Los Angeles, CA – On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, the Ingenium Barack Obama Charter School (BOCS) and the Los Angeles Chargers Impact Fund hosted a book fair in partnership with Scholastic. The Los Angeles Chargers generously donated brand new scholastic books to ALL 391 elementary students currently enrolled at BOCS. Chargers Impact Fund Staff came to campus to give out the books and meet students and their families.
Superintendent William Toomey at Ingenium Schools expressed gratitude for the Chargers Impact Fund’s thoughtful contribution, stating, “We are incredibly thankful to the Los Angeles Chargers Impact Fund for their generosity and commitment to making a positive impact in our community. This donation not only provides our students with new and exciting reading materials but also instills a sense of inspiration from some of their favorite sports heroes.”
The Chargers Impact Fund’s commitment to education and community outreach is evident in this meaningful gesture aimed at promoting literacy and fostering a love for reading among the next generation. The donated books cover various genres and subjects, ensuring that every child can find a story that captivates their imagination.
Also in attendance was Alexis MacPherson, with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Community Relations, who said, “it was a great opportunity for the representatives of the LA Chargers to remind our youth of the importance of reading, paying attention, being a team player, and sharing that experience as a community.”
