Dear Barack Obama Charter School Families and Scholars,
As Principal at IBOCS, it has been my sincere pleasure and honor to be a part of such a loving, supportive, and collaborative school community. This past school year we experienced many changes and adjustments due to COVID-19. As we transitioned to distance learning, we all learned how to utilize technology in ways we never thought we would need to. Thank you to our families for your on going support as I know distance learning required you to assist your scholar as they learned how to navigate Google Classroom, Google Meet, etc.
At Barack Obama Charter School, we believe that success is the only option for scholars. Our goal is for 100% of scholars to grow one academic year or more in Math and English Language Arts. In order to do this, we are committed to nurturing and developing the whole child. This includes learning and growing not only academically but socially and emotionally as well. Developing the whole child helps prepare scholars for challenges and opportunities of today and tomorrow by addressing their needs through the collaborative effort of students, families, and the school community. At IBOCS, we believe all scholars and all our staff are leaders, and each of them has the power to influence those around them in a positive way.
As the first day of school is quickly approaching, know that the safety and academic success of your scholar is the upmost priority to us here at IBOCS. We will be putting in extra precautions to make sure students stay healthy, while also ensuring students receive a high quality education that is focused on their individual needs and strengths.
If you are new to IBOCS, welcome to the IBOCS family and I look forward to meeting you. If you are a returning family, welcome back! I am looking forward to a year of learning and growing that will enable our scholars to do and be their very best.
Sincerely,
Ann Marie Smith
Principal
