Dear Barack Obama Charter School Community,
I am honored and excited to join the BOCS school community. It is my pleasure to welcome all of you to the 2024-2025 school year! I am Norma Vijeila, the new proud principal of Barack Obama Charter School. I am thrilled to get this opportunity to lead a school with amazing scholars,extremely dedicated staff, and supportive parents and school community. Along with the talented team at BOCS, I will work hard to build up excellence to ensure each student finds joy and pride in their academic learning path and they are empowered to reach their full potential.
This year we will continue to focus on our Signature Practices: Learning Portfolios, student-led conferences, huddles, data walls, and quality learning tools. Our academic program will continue to be rigorous, engaging, and aligned to the state standards. Our amazing teachers will continue to use research based strategies to develop students’ critical thinking skills, and help students develop scholarly habits and motivation. As a staff, we are committed to best prepare students for a successful future.
This year, our admin team, teachers, and staff will prioritize the following:
- School Spirit and Sense of Pride: Scholars will feel a strong connection to their school and the team of educators, administrators, and support staff.
- Rigor: Scholars working on meaningful work that is clearly aligned with the California State Standards.
- Routines: Scholars understand and engage in predictable and consistent tasks that set clear expectations for learning and behavior.
- Relationships: Scholars know all educators care for them and will support and inspire them to reach.
As BOCS principal, I look forward to building relationships with our community.
Our entire staff is committed to collaborating with our families in preparing all of our scholars for lifelong academic and personal success.
