Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Ingenium Schools is a charter network of great schools in Los Angeles designed around quality learning tools and systems. We serve students in TK-8 and their families residing in Canoga Park, Compton, and neighboring areas. Our mission is to prepare our students to be the best learners, leaders, and collaborators by empowering them with the capacity and tools to continually improve themselves and the world around them.
A charter school is a public, tuition-free school that is open to all students. They are funded primarily through a combination of federal, state and local tax dollars and meet the same strict standards that traditional public schools use to measure success. Charter schools are granted permission by a local school district or the state of California to operate independently in order to innovate, challenge, and expand learning methodologies.
Get ready for a new type of learning environment at Ingenium Schools! Every one of our students’ voices matter as they navigate their learning with a greater sense of meaning and more opportunities to have their voices heard, cooperate with their peers and friends, and receive the support they need to create the optimal challenge and receive a truly intrinsically motivating education. This is what we mean by bringing joy and meaning back to learning. To learn more about how we do this, check out our Signature Practices here.
No, Ingenium Schools is open to all students, space permitting.
Ingenium Schools admits students through a public random lottery. Students not selected in the lottery are automatically waitlisted and are enrolled as space becomes available.
Fill out the form above to enter your child in our public lottery. By law, admission is open to all students in the State of California and is determined by this public lottery. The lottery will be held early in the year and all families will be notified of the results.
Lotteries at Ingenium Schools are computerized. To ensure fairness and accuracy, the computer-automated lottery software is hosted and operated by SchoolMint, an independent, third-party firm that has no affiliation to our school. Our Enrollment system software randomly draws the applicants and generates a list of offered and waitlisted students. While you are more than welcome to attend the lottery, your attendance is not required. Our Official Lottery Event will be held on February 13th.
Yes, Ingenium Schools gives lottery priority to:
- Siblings of students currently attending an Ingenium Schools campus
- Applicants whose guardian is a current employee of Ingenium Schools
- Applicants that live within the district boundaries of our schools
Yes! After the lottery deadline, all Ingenium schools will continue to accept applications until the school is fully enrolled. If the school is fully enrolled, students will be added to the waitlist.
